OSRS Flower Poker Explained: Rules, Odds and Tips
2026-10-01 · 4 min read · RuneScape
Flower poker is the most famous gambling game in Old School RuneScape. It started in-game with mithril seeds and now runs on gambling sites too.
The basic rules
1. Each player plants five mithril seeds, which grow into flowers of random colours. 2. The colours form a "hand", like poker. 3. The better hand wins. Ties are replanted.
Hand ranking (best to worst)
- Five of a kind: all five flowers the same colour - Four of a kind - Full house: three of one colour plus two of another - Three of a kind - Two pair - One pair - Bust: no matching colours
Most games also count a rainbow or black/white flower as a special result. Rules vary by host, so always check them first.
Why the host matters
In-game flower poker relies on trusting the host not to swap seeds or "rig" plants. That's exactly why many players moved to gambling sites, where results come from a provably fair random number instead of a person.
Tips
- Agree the rules (replants, special flowers, who plants first) before any gold moves. - On sites, check the game is provably fair and verify a few results. How provably fair works. - Set a gold limit before you start.
