Bankroll Management 101: Make Your Budget Last
2026-09-19 · 4 min read
Bankroll management won't beat the house edge. What it does is make your money last longer and stop one bad session from hurting.
Set a monthly budget
Decide how much you can spend on entertainment this month without it affecting bills or savings. That number is your bankroll, and it's money you've already accepted losing.
Split it into sessions
Divide the bankroll into sessions. A $200 month might be eight $25 sessions. When a session's money is gone, the session is over.
Pick a unit size
A single bet should be a small slice of a session, often 1–5%. Smaller units mean more play and fewer big swings.
Set a win stop and a loss stop
- Loss stop: the session budget. Never top it up mid-session. - Win stop: if you hit, for example, double your session budget, cash out and end the session.
Rules that save money
- Never chase losses by raising bets. - Don't gamble when tired, drunk or upset. - Withdraw winnings instead of leaving them in your balance. - Use the site's deposit limits to enforce your plan.
